Answers Call - Mrs. Carrie E. Rape passes away after four weeksillness. - She was the wife of the former mayor Charles L. Rape.
Mrs. Charles L. Rape wife of the former mayor and school board memberof the East Side, passed away Wednesday afternoon at 10 minutes past 4o'clock at the family home 122 North Division street. She became illfour weeks ago and two weeks ago her condition became serious. Shegrew gradually weaker and the end came as stated.
Mrs. Charles L. Rape was born near Eldorado, O. May 10, 1872 and herparents were George M. and Jane Pierce Ricker. She attended school atEldorado and her first teacher was Prof. J. M. Bunger. About 1880 shewith her family moved to Union City and she attended the East Sideschool.
She was married May 15, 1890 to Charles L. Rape and for the past 35years, Mr. and Mrs. Rape have resided at 122 Division street.
Two children were born to the couple, Cecil M. Rape and DorothyWasson, wife of Gail Wasson of the Commercial Bank and Trust Co. Thereis also one grandchild Norman Rape. Charles Rape was elected mayor in1912 and for several years she filled the position as first lady ofthe city.
Mr. Rape was also a member of the school board for a period of 24years during which Mrs. Rape ably and pleasantly discharged the manyduties that fell to the lot of the wife of a member of the schoolboard. She was also a valued member of the United Brethren Church andfor several years she had charge of a Sunday school class in thePentecostal Assembly. She lived a busy and useful life and she meantmuch to the community of her adoption. Many friends will regret hergoing and she will be sincerely mourned. Besides the husband andfamily she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Dora Byrne, Carolinestreet.
The body was taken to the Fraze Funeral home for burial preparationand will be returned from there to the home. The funeral will takeplace from the United Brethren Church Saturday at 2 p. m., conductedby Rev. Wm. Underwood and Rev. Ludwick. Interment in the Union CityCemetery."
