MARGARET JOHNSON was born in Baltimore County, Maryland, November 18,1830,
and died at the home of her son, CHARLES R. BOND, Norwood, Iowa,February 16
1908, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 28 days. She was united in
marriage to GEORGE T. BOND, in 1852, who preceded her to the betterland
February, 1884. With her family she moved to Clover Hill,Pennsylvania, in
1858, and resided there until the year 1866, when she removed to Iowa.
She has been a resident of Lucas County for 36 years. Uniting with the
Methodist Church in early youth she has lived an honored andconsistent
member to the time of her death. She leaves one brother and onesister, who
reside in Maryland; was the mother of seven children, four of whomhave
passed on to the better world. The three living are C.R. BOND and MRS.W.W.
CLORE, of Norwood, Iowa, and IRA F. BOND, of Bradgate, Iowa. Besidesshe
leaves 20 grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, other relativesand
numerous friends who will all mourn her loss and feel they have lost atrue
friend and a kind neighbor.
Grandma BOND has gone on to be forever with Jesus, but the life thatshe has
lived will ever be an encouraging memory to the religious life of the
community of Norwood. The funeral services were held in the Methodist
Church of Norwood, of which she had been a member for 36 years at thetime
of her death, and of which her husband was class leader for a numberof
years. Her body was laid to rest in the Norwood Cemetery. Louis J.Smith,
Pastor of the Methodist Church, conducted the services, and Mr.Phillips, of
Lucas, had charge of the body."
