OBITUARY: "MARY E. MARTINDALE MILLER
Mary Etta Martindale, youngest child of Johnson and Rachel Martindale,was born in Perryton Township, Mercer County, Illinois, Nov. 28, 1861and lived on the same home place until her marriage to Stephen A.Miller of Millersburg, Ill., Feb. 14, 1881, where she spent thegreater part of her married life. She was one of a family of sevenchildren, three brothers, Henry C. Martindale, William A. Martindale,and a half-brother, LeRoy Williams. Three sisters, Mrs. Sarah J.Dunn, Mrs. Amanda Asbahr, and Martha Ellen Sundquist, all havingpreceded her in death excepting on sister, Mrs. Amanda Asbahr ofDavenport. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband and twochildren, Mrs. Emory Epperly of Millersburg and Riley A. at home, twochildren, Stella Anna and Charles Alma, having died in infancy. Shealso leaves three grand children, Mrs. Leslie Davis of Victoria, MissNola Epperly of Aledo and Verne Epperly of Millersburg. She unitedwith the L.D.S. church Dec. 2, 1885, and to this faith she gave herdevotion to the end. Always willing and prompt to serve in anycapacity. She supported the work, not only by her faith and prayers,but by her faithful attendance at the house of the Lord. The memoryof her courage and the smile with which she met life in all itsvicissitudes will ever be an inspiration to all those from whoseassociation she has been called. "Shed not for her the bitter tear,Nor give the heart to vain regret; 'Tis but the casket that lies here,The gem that filled it sparkles yet." The services were held at theL.D.S. church Thursday at 10 a.m., Rev. E.R. Davis of Victoriaofficiating. Pall bearers were: Ward Gilmore, A.R. Garner, Keith andElliott Harroun, Wm.
