- He was educated at Bedford School, Bedford, Bedfordshire, England. He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1902 with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.) He graduated in 1902 with a Bachelor of Surgery (B.Ch.) He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1902 with a Bachelor of Art in Obstretics (B.A.O.) He graduated in 1904 with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Royal Army Medical Corps. He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1916, in the Cameroons. He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916. He lived in 1958 at Darver Castle, Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland
