2 - La Baule-Escoublac, commonly referred to as La Baule, is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique d?epartement of France . It boasts the longest sand beach of Europe, which is 12 kilometers in length.
In 1779 , a violent storm buried the village under sand. La Baule-Escoublac was rebuilt further inland. At that time, the very unstable dunes were occupied only by customs officers, who gave them the name of B?ole, a term indicating an easily flooded maritime meadow.
The Grand Prix de la Baule was a Grand Prix motor racing event held during the 1930s.
