"THE GRIM REAPER'S TOLL-MRS. CHARLES MCMILLAN- Mrs. Charles
McMillan, a well known and respected woman of Smithville, died at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Baker, near Winner Thursday, Jan 18th
1917. Her Maiden name was Miss Laura Belle Summers, and she was born
June 15, 1868. She has lived for many years in and around Smithville.
Mrs. McMillan always carried the reputation of being a good industrious,
honorable woman. Of a quiet disposition, pleasant and friendly towards
all who knew her, her death is deeply deplored by our entire community.
Besides her brothers and one sister and large circle of relatives, she
leaves a husband, Mr. Charles McMillan, two sons, Ernest and Vest, and
one daughter, Sallie, the wife of Robert Baker.
Her funeral was conducted by Elder Loos at the Methodist church in
Paradise, Sunday afternoon. Burial was made in the cemetery there,
under the auspices of the Fidelity Rebekah lodge of Smithville. The
family and relatives have the sympathy of many friends.
