    • "ROCKVILLE, INDIANA, TRIBUNE NEWSPAPER, WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 04, 1908,GRANGE CORNER, INDIANA: Friday afternoon at the Rock Crusher, locatedon Hiram Allens farm occurred the accident which resulted in the deathof John Farner. Mr. Farner with other workmen were blasting rockusing dynamite. They had just put in a charge and he thought the fusehad gone out and began to venture near and was warned by hiscompanions. As he neared the hole where the charge had been placed,the explosion occurred. It lifted him six feet off the ground, blewone arm into shreds and tore the fingers off his other hand anddestroyed his eyesight. As his wife is very low with consumption itis feared the shock may be fatal to her. He was taken to the home ofHarry Allen who lives near the Crusher. After a few hours of untoldagony, death relieved him of his suffering. When his wife was told ofhis death she replied it would not be long before she would be withhim. He leaves a four year old daughter." Note: No deathcertificate has been found. He was buried: Wolf Creek Cemetery, nearWallace, and Grange Corner, Indiana." [Transcribed by, sljuhl, 07 Jan2005].

      JOHN FARNER a well known and highly respected citizen residing aboutfour miles southeast of Wallace, was almost killed instantly lastFriday afternoon from the effects of a dynamite explosion in a rockquarry near his home." [transcribed by, sljuhl, 22 Jun 2005]
