Notes |
- It was noted that on the census records Charles Hand is given eitherthe middle initial of B or V at times. So, it is uncertain as towhich is accurate. Except he is listed on two marriage records withthe middle initial "V", on his marriage record to Florence and on hisbrother Hiram's marriage record where he is a witness. The compilerthen addresses the correct middle initial of Charles Hand to be theletter, "V".
In the 1910 census records the family is living with Hannah E. Ross, and Charles is still alive at this time. The compiler has not beenable to find Charles death date as yet. Research continues.
The City of New Boston is on the banks of the Mississippi River, andmay attribute for many occupations that are listed as fisherman, including Charles Hand.
In 1915, it's documented in the Mercer County Almshouse RegisterIndex, 1859-1949 that all of Florence's siblings were admitted at thattime to the facility. It is unknown as to how long they stayed.Clide/Clyde was the oldest at 19 years old. It would seem that thechildren must have been admitted probably about the time of theirfather's death no doubt. It is unknown as to where Alice Hand is atthis time.http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/mercer.html#copies
