131. Francis6 Ingersoll (Probably of the line of Francis,5 Jonathan,4 Samuel,3 George,2 Richard1), born Feb. 23, 1758; died June
2, 1830 at Middlebury, Wyoming Co., N. Y.; m. Apr. 12, 1781 at Alford, Mass. Rachel Case, born about 1762 at Granville, N.
Y. near State line; died 1846 at Middlebury, N. Y. She was allowed a pension Aug. 12, 1840. The following is the Revolution War
service of Francis Ingersoll: Appears with rank of Private on company return of Capt. William's Company, Col. Paterson's
Regiment (Oct., 1775); residence West Stockbridge, Coat Rolls, eight months' service (Vol. 5c.; 177 1/2, Mass. Archives.)
Appears on a list of men mustered in Berkshire Co. by a return made by Trueman Wheeler, muster master; Term: 3 years or during
war mustered between Jan. 20, 1777 and June 1, 1778 (Vol. 25; p. 247, Mass. Archives.)
Appears in a Return of men enlisted into the Continental Army from Capt. Increase Hewin's Company; residence West
Stockbridge. Joined Capt. Chadwick's Company, Col. Brewer's Regiment (year not given) (Vol. 42, p. 191, Mass. Archives.)
Appears with rank of Private on a muster roll of Capt. John Chadwick's Co., Col. Brewer's Regt., dated Camp, Jan. 22, 1778;
town, belonged to Stockbridge; mustered by M. Wheeler and returned by Order of Council Dec. 27, 1777; reported on command
at Albany. (Vol. 10; p. 278, Mass. Archives.) Verified by Wm. M. Olin, Sec., Boston, Aug. 26, 1898.
After serving three years Francis Ingersoll hired a substitute, paying seventy-five dollars in Continental money. He was allowed a
pension on his application executed April 13, 1818, while a resident of Scipio, Cayuga Co., N. Y. (U. S. Pension Bureau.) He paid $75.00 in
Continental money marriage fee, worth $1.00 in gold.
