- 1 - Rt. Hon. Charles Hope, Lord Granton was educated at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland . He was admitted as Advocate in 1784. He held the office of Sheriff of Orkney in 1792. He held the office of Lord Advocate between 1801 and 1804. He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Edinburgh between 1803 and 1805. He held the office of Lord Justice Clerk between 1804 and 1811. He was styled as Lord Granton [Scottish Law Lord]. He held the office of Lord President of the Court of Sessions between 1811 and 1836. He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1822 and held the office of Lord Justice General between 1836 and 1841.
