- Rejoining his regiment on the outbreak of war he went to France on 11th September 1914. He was reported missing near Gheluvelt in Belgium, the Newmarket Journal of 7th November 1914 stated that he was wounded and taken prisoner, but a further report on July 3rd stated that he had died.
