"Sebastian was a cadet in the Regimiento de Irlanda. In 1787 he wasappointed captain of the Regimiento Fixo de Mexico and went to Mexico andFlorida. In 1795 he was promoted to colonel and in 1799 was appointedGobernador de Santiago de Cuba. From 1812 to 1815 he was Governor ofFlorida Oriental and played a crucial role in the defense of San Agustinthat was being sieged by the Florida patriots and american troops. He wasalso Gobernador de Santo Domingo (1818-1821) and Gobernador de Cuba(1822-1823). He married Ana Manuel Mozo de la Torre, daughter of a richCuban landowner, and had 7 sons. "
