Notes |
- 1 - David, Lord Drummond, Master of Madderty (later in 1662, he became 3rd Lord Madderty): David Drummond the eldest son of John, 2nd Lord Madderty (himself a supporter of Montrose) was married to Montrose's sister Lady Beatrix Graham. The Madderty estates were close to Perth, south of Buchanty and close to Methven Woods. As official herald (envoy) at the Battle of Tippermuir David Drummond rode one of only three horses which were in Montrose's possession. He assisted in the raising of Lord Kilpont's Regiment.

2 - David Drummond succeeded his father in the estate and honours of Madderty. He was a literary man, and had little concern in the public transactions of the times.
He is entitled to the gratitude of posterity, for having founded a public library at Innerpaffray, for the general accommodation of the inhabitants of Strathearn.
He married, 1st, Alison Crichton, heiress of John Crichton of Airliewight, by whom he had no issue.
2ndly, Lady Beatrix Graham, sister of James, the 1st marquiss of Montrose, by whom he had two sons and three daughters.
David Lord Madderty having no surviving male issue, the estate and honours of Madderty devolved upon his nephew, and heir-male, William Drummond, the second viscount of Strathallan, son of his brother, General William Drummond of Cromlix, 1st viscount of Strathallan.
