- In Burke's under the 12 Calanranald it says his wife was Moire daughterof Sir Rory Mor 16th Macleod, but Sir Rory was the 15th Chief who has nodaughters listed.
under Donald Macdonald 13th of Clanranald, Marion is his wife plus hertwo other husbands are listed but it says she was daughter of Ian MorMacleod 17th Chief, but Ian Mor was the 16th Chief, and it says 17thChief d.s.p.. Under Ian Mor 16th chief Marion is said to be the 12thClanranald's wife.

He married his cousin, Moir, or Marion, daughter of John MacLeod, XIV, of
MacLeod, and sister of Roderick MacLeod, XV, and John MacLeod XVI ofMacLeod, all three of whom followed each other in succession, as chiefsof MacLeod. By her he had issue John, who died in infancy, Allan, whosucceeded his his father as XII of the family, Ranald, who succeeded hisbrother Allan as XIII Chief, Margaret who married Donald MacDonald thirdof Benbecula, who afterwards became head of the clan, and succeeded tothe estates as XIV of Clanranald and nearest male heir on the death ofRanald. Two others Marion and Janet both of whom died without issue.
Donald died in 1686 on the Island of Canna and was buried at Tomar. He was
succeeded by his second and eldest surviving son, Allan.
