John Hobden was as a convict, arriving on "The Clyde" in December 1830.He was accused of stealing money from a letter, and was forced to leavebehind in England a wife, Elizabeth, and six children. His secondmarriage was in 1850, to Ann Coline Fitzgerald. They had ten children,and their descendants have made notable contributions to Tasmaniansociety. "
