    • Note: Ayr, Scotland-- Blair Castle is located in Perthshire near thepretty village of Blair Atholl (which has a railway station on themain Edinburgh - Inverness rail line). 35 miles north of Perth and 7miles north of Pitlochry on the main A9 road.
      The ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl, Blair Castle datesfrom the 13th century. It has a magnificent setting in 2,500 acres ofgrounds within an estate of over 145,000 acres.

      1). Source: "Annie Love Blair" kept a record of the family dated1894. Where this entire record is kept is unknown at the presenttime, however Joanne Irene Blair Dick does have a hand written portionof it from "Aunt Bessie Blair" written in June of 1988. Bessie Blairgives a family genealogy from this Ancestor John Blair of Irelandmarried to Margaret Dunlap to the present John Edward Blair married toHortense DeKezel and their children. The information was added to theBlair Family genealogy. It was photo copied by the compiler for theBlair/McCoy records on 17 June 2006. SLJuhl, compiler.

      #2). Source: The hand written records of "Bessie" Elisabeth MildredBlair, born 12 Nov 1898 to John B. Blair resident of Henry County,Illinois, on the Blair Family. "Aunt Bessie" as she was lovinglyreferred to was notably the family historian. She faithfully keptnewspaper articles on the family as it grew in Illinois, and kept handwritten copied records as well of the families history from the olderdescendants. A good example would be from Annie Love Blair's notes ofJanuary 1894. And even though the earlier records are sketchy, they doprovide a good basic foundation for family research. Copies of therecords are kept in the Blair Records of Jozett Marie Blair McCoy, adirect descendant.

      3). Source: Multiple census record copies from the web site ofwww.Ancestry.com; too numerous to list except in the actual notes ofthe individuals being researched.

      4). Source: Descendants Ed & Carol Combs of California have been atremendous help to the research of this family by providing insight,access to marriage, death, and birth records from Henry County,Illinois. A good amount of research has been shared to help enlightenand add to the family's basic knowledge for posterity.

      5). Source: Cemetery photos from several of the burial places of notonly the Blair Family, but of their extended families as well.

      6) Source: Records obtained from John & Marilyn Blair of Illinois.Who were kind enough to share records for copying from familyreunions, "Aunt Bessie's" notes, that included the note records fromAnnie Love Blair also.

      7). Source: Three boxes of newspaper articles that had been kept by"Aunt Bessie Blair" from the early 1930's until her demise. Thearticles were obituaries, marriages, engagements, military, births,etc.. of all the family members. Plus, some really wonderful olderphotos.

      9). Source: The local libraries, in Davenport, Iowa; Moline & RockIsland, Illinois, have been a wealth of information for the genealogyand histories of the family.
