- Frederick Douglas, 65 of Cumberland Gap, passed away after a lengthy illness on June 20 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church of Cumberland Gap. Frederick was a devoted husband of 41 years, a loving father, grandfather who loved fishing, hunting and the outdoors, and was also an avid CB'er. He enjoyed trading knives, boats and guns. Frederick was a carpenter by trade and built his own home. He loved attending church and drove a church bus for years and enjoyed talking about the Lord. Fredrick will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him. Frederick was preceded in death by parents, Henry Jack and Sarah Leona King Douglas; brother, Nathaniel Douglas; sister, Jackie Baird. Frederick is survived by wife, Mary Douglas of Cumberland Gap; sons, Frederick Scott Douglas and wife, Christina of Arthur, Joey Ray Douglas and wife, Tanya of Harrogate; daughters, Melissa Gail Douglas and husband, Jerry Mayes, Mary Lynn Neal and husband, Michael, all of Speedwell, Sarah Rebecca Douglas of Cumberland Gap and Pamela Lee Elliot and husband, Josh of Harrogate; brothers and sisters in law, Ernie and Linda Douglas, Wade and Vivian Douglas all of Speedwell, Frank and Debra Douglas of Andersonville, Ike and Ann Douglas of LaFollette and Carl and Tina Douglas of Caryville; sisters, Sharon Wishoun of Harrogate, Betsy Smith of Cumberland Gap, Rita Weaver of Speedwell; sisters and brothers in law, Charlotte and J R Willoughby of MI and Debbie and Johnny Daniels of Cumberland Gap; sister in law, Joyce Douglas; six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. on June 22 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. David and Dee Fuson officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on June 23 in Powell Valley Cemetery and Memorial Gardens.
