8. | James (of Inchmarlo) Douglas was born in 1595 in Tilquhillie, Kincardineshire, Scotland (son of John (5th of Tilquhilly) Douglas and Mary Young); died in 1672 in Tilquhillie, Kincardineshire, Scotland. Notes:
Mr. James Douglass," as he is always designated, acquired the lands of Inchmarlo in the parish of Banchory, in 1650, with his patrimony. He founded the Inchmarlo branch of the family.
James married Isabel Ramsay in 1642 in Tilquhillie, Kincardineshire, Scotland. Isabel (daughter of David (of Balmain) Ramsay) was born in 1597 in Balmain, Perthshire, Scotland; died in 1660 in Tilquhillie, Kincardineshire, Scotland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

10. | Rev William (of Athelstaneford) Carmichael was born in 1640; died in 1718. Notes:
Mr. William Carmichael, the great grandfather of Dr. John Douglas, who became Bishop of Salisbury, was born in 1640, and licensed in 1659. Before being settled in a parochial charge he was schoolmaster of Colinton, as Scott mentions in " Fasti Eccl. Scott." He was first settled as minister at Wamphray? from which he was translated, in 1665, to Athelstaneford, and in 1689, to Mackerston. He resigned his charge in consequence of age and infirmity on 6th Sept., 1715, and died in the year 1718. His daughter, Janet, was Bishop Douglas's grandmother.
