Major Roderick Walter Sholto Douglas was born on 16 July 1908. He was the son of Hon. Archibald Roderick Sholto Douglas and Winona Constance de Maraisville Peake. He married, firstly, Elizabeth Margaret Cooper, daughter of Stephen Clement Paston Cooper and Florence Gertrude Taylor, on 7 November 1935. He and Elizabeth Margaret Cooper were divorced in 1949. He married, secondly, Margaret Tennent, daughter of J. M. Tennent, on 13 February 1950. He died in 1990. He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Armoured Corps. He was a member of the Special Operations Executive.
