(Research):The Rev Robert John Thompson Hawksley is my x3 great grandfather. Robert was born 10 October 1817 in Sheffield, Yorkshire. He was married to Maria (Elisie) Linney, the daughter of Isaac Linney. Isaac was a lay Methodist preacher in Glossop / New Mills, Derbyshire. Robert and Maria had 3 girls and 2 boys. Their daughter Maria Elizabeth Hawksley (my x2 great grandmother), married Rev William Magee Douglas. Rev W M Douglas was a Methodist minister / missionary from Ireland and they settled in South Africa. Rev Douglas was the grandson of Rev William Douglas, an early Methodist Minister in Ireland.
