    Notes:

    Moses worked for the Erie Railroad for 48 years and retired on a pension.
    He may have lived in Honesdale, Wayne Co., PA

    In the latter years of his life, Moses lived in Narrowsburg, Sullivan Co., NY. Marie Case recalls visiting there about 1931. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Lapsansky (Minnie Dexter), following a long illness (cancer). The body was brought to the Dexter home in Scranton for viewing. Funeral services were at the Providence Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Mack Bain officiating. Source: newspaper obituary for Moses Dexter aquired from Minnie Dexter by Jon Case.

    Jon Case has a photo taken at the Fireman's Picnic at Narrowsburg, Sullivan Co., NY. Reverse is stamped "for sale by E.H.Decker, View Artist, Narrowsburg, NY."

    Moses is listed as living with his father and mother in the 1870 census for Damascus, Wayne Co., NY 2 doors from Warren Case.

    Moses married Lenna Esther Randtel on 8 Jun 1883 in Atco, Wayne Co., PA. Lenna (daughter of Charles G. Randtel and Charlotte S.) was born on 16 Sep 1866 in Atco (Branningville), Wayne Co., PA; died on 25 Sep 1940 in Home Of Minnie Dexter Case/Scranton, Lackawanna Co., PA; was buried in 1940 in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

    Lenna's mother came to the US from Germany after Lenna arrived, and is believed to have resided in Buffalo, NY with relatives.
    She survived Moses. The Randtel name was changed to Randall possibly later.

    Lenna is thought to have lived in Narrowsburg, NY.

    Obituary (prob. Scranton newspaper):

    "Mrs. Lenna E. Dexter, age 74 years, widow of Moses H. Dexter of Narrowsburg, passed away very suddenly on Wednesday, September 25, 1940 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Lapsansky, 632 North Washington Ave., Scranton, Pa. Mrs. Dexter recently sold her home in the village and had gone to live with her daughter, she was living with her daughter but a short while when death claimed her.

    The deceased was born at Atco, Wayne Co., PA., on September 16, 1866. Surviving are two sons Elmer of Dalton, Pa. and George R. of Long Island City, N.Y., the above named daughter, Mrs. Minnie Lapsansky and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Hawker of Atco. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive. The funeral service was held on Saturday, September 28th at two o'clock at the Methodist Church; Rev. Harold Davies officiating, interment in the Glen Cove Cemetery."

    "After their marriage the couple worked for four months for W.D.Guinnip in his store at Atco. They then moved to Barkely Lake until about 1886 when they moved to Port Jervis, NY, for eight years... About 1923 they purchased a home in Narrowsburg, NY (DVN 6/9/1933).
