"I should mention that the information I just sent on William Reynoldsmarrying Nancy Yancy certainly could be William Jr. He probablyreturned to IN after 1840 Whitley census where he married Nancy in1844 In Jackson Co. and I think he might have come back to KY afterhis wife dying leaving his son Richard (2-1850) with Nancy's parents. There was a William Reynolds listed in the 1850 Whitley Co. censusliving with a Hood family. He later could have married Candis Anders. William & Candis' 2nd son John C. Reynolds was born in 1863 in INaccording to the 1870 Whitley Co. census. Perhaps William & familywent to IN for a visit with Mary or Richard. I know there is nothingto verify this but I found it interesting that he had one child bornin IN."

Note: On the 12 August 1850 Federal Census for Carr Township, JacksonCounty, Indiana--a Richard Yauncey (dwelling 121/123) was living nextdoor to Leonard C. Alsup (dwelling 122/124) . In Richard Yauncey'shouse hold was probably a grandson of about two years old, RichardReynolds, b. IN. William K. R. Jr. Reynolds was married to NancyYauncey. William K.R. Jr. Reynolds sister Elizabeth (dau. of WmRunnels Reynolds) was married to Leonard C. Alsup's brother, DanielAlsup. [Leonard was the brother of Daniel Alsup. Daniel was marriedto Elizabeth Reynold's--the sister of William K.R. Jr. Reynolds.] Itis believed that Richard Yauncey's daughter married a Reynolds, probably Nancy. It is suspected that Richard Reynolds, child ofWilliam K. R. Jr. Reynolds & Nancy Yauncey, is the grandson stayingwith Richard Yauncey in the 1850 census. I know it's confusing, butthe families lived next to each other all during this time and thegrandson, Richard Reynold's stayed with Richard Yauncey which wouldconnect them all together. Making William K.R. Jr. Reynolds the sonof William M. Runnels Reynolds, and brother to our Mary Polly A.Reynolds Elkins.
Actually in the 1860 census for Carr, Jackson County, Indiana, Williamand Nancy show up. So, it's quite possible that the family was inKentucky during the 1850 census, and that the youngest Richard wasleft in the care of his grandparents while they were gone. Perhapsthey were visiting family at the time of the 1850 census or ...?It's doubtful that this William was then married to Candis Anderssince William and Nancy are still living together in Jackson County,Indiana in the 1880 Census .

    Sandy:
I guess William could have been in Pulaski Co in 1820 census. In 1802& 1804 William Reynolds was in Lee, VA tax lists. We know he was inKnox Co. in 1807 because of the lawsuit and he married Abigail Hayesin 1807 Knox Co. Also he had a land grant Sep 1800 for 130 acres onIndian Creek. He went to Tenn in 1808 delinquent tax lists accordingto Decker History. I cannot remember if I sent you this informationbefore.

Recently in the last six months, Char. Anderson ofchar@porcelainartworks.net has been assisting with the Reynolds Familyresearch in the Kentucky genealogy of the family with this compiler.Char. Anderson contacted this compiler per e-mail. She had found theconnection in the court records lawsuit of William to Daniel, andGeorge Reynolds in Knox County, Kentucky along with the marriagerecord of Mary Polly Reynolds married to James Elkins. After muchresearch, we did connect the family of Knox County, Kentucky to thesame James & Mary (Polly) (Reynolds) Elkins of Knox County & JacksonCounty, Indiana together with those two records and the censusinformation. James Elkins and his family were living in PulaskiCounty, Kentucky at the time of his marriage to Mary (Polly) beforemigrating to Jackson County, Indiana in around 1831 with Mary's fatherWilliam Runnels/Reynolds and James' father's family. In the processof doing this, this compiler has been able to substantiate theresearch done by Joyce Lorraine Clore Elkins for the last 35 years onthe Elkins Family as well back into Virginia. [17 January 2007,SLJuhl, compiler, daughter of Joyce Lorraine Clore Elkins]

William married Martha Willson ? on 1 Feb 1782 in Campbell County, Virginia, USA. Martha was born between 1760 and 1765 in Unknown; died after 1830 in Possibly Jackson County, Indiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Martha Willson ? was born between 1760 and 1765 in Unknown; died after 1830 in Possibly Jackson County, Indiana.

    Notes:

At this point in the research Martha Wilson is a possibility for thewife of William M. Runnels/Reynolds; However, it is not conclusive. The estimated ages of William's children would probably put theirmarriage around c.1780-1785 A.D. The William Reynolds listed in theVirginia Marriages to 1800 marriage records was the only one that fitwithin the framed dates. So, this is not a confirmed marriage andonly a guess at this point in time.
