Hediscusses in some detail the problems incurred with many thingsrelating to the family's origin here in America and each individual, starting with George Buchanan. Below is a sample of the informationhe has provided on the web site.

The birth date given by researcher Bob Scott, makes Esther Buchananaround 50 years of age or older when Wilson, John, Martha E., andDavid Buchanan were born. Could their father George Buchanan havemarried twice?

"George's dates are problematical. The DAR, giving no source, listedthem as 1721-1818. A 1910 interview with his grandson George W.Buchanan, printed in the Madison Courier that year, said that Georgelived to be 102 years old. A military marker, probably placed in theearly 1900s, gave his death date as 1815. It was probably placed inthe McLaughlin family cemetery and moved to the Wilson Buchanan FamilyCemetery about 1985.
Despite the often repeated statements that George was born either inRamleton, Donegal, Ireland or York County, Pa., or even Scotland, there is no proof. Nor is there any proof of the identity of hisfather. Most of this stems from attempts to establish a claim to theBuchanan estate in the 1930s (which was an out-and-out scam).
I believe that George was probably the same George on the tax lists inFannett Township, which is in modern Franklin County, Pa.
The earliest known account that names George's children was given in1910 by George W. Buchanan, his grandson via Wilson Buchanan. Thisaccount, printed in the Madison Courier, listed George's fatherWillson Buchanan (erroneously printed as William), and his unclesWilliam and Jack Buchanan. Also cited by relationship were uncleGeorge McLaughlin and cousin William McLaughlin and uncle GeorgeBenefiel. It does not mention David Buchanan, generally regarded asone of four brothers, or Margaret Buchanan Cowen, regarded as adaughter of George Buchanan."
