    " Seriously Injured in Head-on Collision

    "Warren, Pa., July 7. - Two babies were killed and eight persons injured Monday in a head-on collision of two automobiles on Route 77 near Garland, about 20 miles west of here.

    "The dead were Eugene Marshall, 18 months old, and David Marshall, 5 months old, children of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Marshall, who were moving from Blooming Valley to their new home at Wellsboro.

    "The injured were Mr. and Mrs. Marshall, who were critically hurt; two other children of their, Gussie, 11, and Gracie, 8; Elva Bemis, 51; George Geer, 64; Levi Warner, and Clayton Buchanan, all of Barnes. Three escaped injury.

    "State Motor Policeman K. W. Leeper said Warner's car went out of control when he swerved onto the soft berm to let another machine pass. It then careened into the Marshall car, wrecking both."

    "John Levis Marshall, aged 81, of Fombell, died at 6 o'clock this morning at the home of his son, Ray S. Marshall, in Perry township. He and his wife had resided with their son since he became ill two years ago.

    "A lifetime resident of this area, Mr. Marshall was born in Camp Run, January 1, 1875. He was the son of the late Clinton and Margaret Wright Marshall.

    "He was a member of the Wurtemburg United Presbyterian church and of the Pleasanat Hill grange.

    "Besides his son and his widow, Mazie Liebendorfer Marshall, he leaves two other sons,
    Ralph H. of Fombell and Clair E. of Homer City; 12 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph L. of RD 1, Harmony, and Zoro E. of Redlands, Calif.

  2. 5.  Effie Irene Liebendorfer was born on 27 Sep 1876 (daughter of Andrew Michael Liebendorfer and Elizabeth Boots); died on 20 Feb 1922; was buried in Wurtemburg Prebyterian Cemetery, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.

    details a tragedy in this family:

    " A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT
    " Mrs. John Marshall Caught
    " By A Revolving Shaft
    " Her Scalp Completely
    " Torn Away. She
    " May Recover.

    "A most distressing accident occured at the home of John Marshall about three miles east of Wurtemburg last Monday morning. Mr. Marshall has in the basement of his house a gas engine which furnishes power for various purposes including a washing machine. Mrs. Marshall was alone in the cellar and in some way her hair came in contact with a revolving shaft which lifted her from her feet and tearing her scalp from the eyebrows to the nape of the neck, besides most of her clothing. Just how it all happened is not known, but Mrs. Marshall's sister Miss Mazie Liebendorfer of Wurtemburg who happened to be at the Marshall home, was horrified at seeing the injured woman staggering up the rear steps from the basement where the accident happened.

    "Drs. Snyder of Portersville and Ralston of Harmony where at once summoned who replaced the scalp and made the terribly injured lady as comfortable as possible. Mrs. Marshall is kept constantly under the influence of opiates and while hopes are entertained for her recovery, she is in a very precarious condition and the outcome is by no means certain."

    " Andrew M. Liebendorfer

    "Andrew M. Liebendorfer for many years a well known resident of Wurtemburg died at his home last Friday morning after a short illness, aged 87 years. Before moving to Wurtemburg about fifty years ago Mr. Liebendorfer lived at Brookville where he followed blacksmithing and rafting, following his trade of blacksmith for several years at Wurtemburg.

    "Mr. Liebendorfer was well known for his cheerful manner and his sturdy uprightness and his demise although at a ripe old age, is deeply mourned by all who knew him; At the organization of the Wurtemburg M. E. Church, he was one of the charter members, and continued his membership through all these years, living his Christian life in harmony with his profession.

    "He is survived by him wife, three sons, William, at Bakersfield, California, R. Curtiss, somewhere in Oregon, and Cadmus whose whereabouts is not known, also two daughters, Mrs. John L. Marshall and Miss Mazie, at home. Also several grand children.

    "His funeral was held Tuesday, with services at the Wurtemburg M. E. Church. Interment in the cemetery of the church."

    Andrew married Elizabeth Boots on 21 Nov 1867. Elizabeth (daughter of Samuel Boots and Harriet Wildle) was born on 12 Jul 1841 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania; died on 11 Feb 1922; was buried in Wurtemburg Prebyterian Cemetery, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]


  4. 11.  Elizabeth Boots was born on 12 Jul 1841 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania (daughter of Samuel Boots and Harriet Wildle); died on 11 Feb 1922; was buried in Wurtemburg Prebyterian Cemetery, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.

    Notes:

    Elizabeth Boots was born 12 July 1841, in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and died 11 February 1922. She married 21 November 1867, as his 2nd wife, Andrew Michael LIEBENDORFER, son of Johann Jacob LIEBENDORFER, III and Christiana BRENNAMAN, who was born 5 December 1829, and died 3 February 1917. He married 1st, 12 May 1853, Isabell KNAPP, who died 6 January 1865. Andrew Liebendorfer and Elizabeth Boots are both buried in the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Cemetery, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.

    The Obituary of Elizabeth Liebendorfer appeared in the Ellwood Ledger, in its issues of Saturday, 11 February 1922, and Monday, 13 February 1922:

    " Mrs. Liebendorfer Dies at Noon Today

    "Mrs. A. M. Liebendorfer of Wurtemburg died this morning after a short illness. Mrs. Liebendorfer is well known in Wurtemburg having lived there for a number of years. She is survived by two children, Marie, who is at home, and Mrs. Frank Marshall of Perry Township."

    " Services for Mrs. Liebendorfer Tuesday

    "Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Liebendorfer of Wurtemburg who died Saturday at noon will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 from the Wurtemburg M. E. Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. K. Pollock.

    "Mrs. Liebendorfer, aged 80 years, died following a few days' illness of pneumonia, at her home in Wurtemburg, where she has resided the greater portion of her life. She was the wife of Andrew M. Liebendorfer who died a number of years ago.

    "She is survived by several step-children and two daughters, Mrs. John Marshall of Perry Township, and Miss Mazie Liebendorfer, at home."
