Author of 'Tale of the Peninsula 7 Waterloo'
Joined Royal Scots Regiment in 1807, served in the Peninsula and at Waterloo, clasps to General Service Medal-Busaco, Fuentes D'Onor, Salamanca,Vittoria, San Sebastian & Waterloo Medal. Married Rebecca Diver in Londonderry on 21 Jul 1823. Had 17 children, worked at Royal Hibernian Military School for many years. Died 29 May 1866 in Merrion Nursery, Donneybrook, Dublin. 4 sons were also soldiers-John George won Relief of Lucknow medal, James Gardiner, William Frederick and Moses Falloon did not see action. He is a DNA match to Moses Douglas of Lurgan/Kinnego circa 1740.

(Research):It is said that he was descended from Sir William Douglas of Drumlanrig, who was created Earl of Douglas in 1358 and confirmed in his estates of Drumlanrig by King James I of Scotland in 1412.

Unsubsantiated notes:
a. John Douglas born 1786 had, that [we] have found , one brother and 4 sisters (pretty evenly spaced so don't think I am missing another brother, unless born later). The brother's name was Robert and their Father was James.
b. [My] so called "other Douglas Family", has a sister (born 1798 - 1863) who married a John Falloon. They died childless but well off. Mary leaves a sizeable sum of money to her Douglas nephews and nieces. One of these nephews has a son that he names George FALLOON Douglas. My John Douglas family has a son that he names Moses FALLOON Douglas.
