8. | William Case, II was born in 1626 in England (son of William Solomon Case and Ruth James?); died before Oct 1676 in Newtown, Suffolk Co., NY. Notes:
"On May 22 1655 William Case appears as a freeman in RI. 20 years later a William Case signed with his mark for land at Newtown, RI on Nov 26, 1674 and he died shortly afterwards. This verified by his widow Mary appearing in court on Oct 8, 1676 in unrelated matter. "
The Yankee Generations, p. 52 mentions another possible son, George.
The birth dates of either 1616 or 1626 would imply that William was born in England since his father sailed for America in 1635 and died en route, or the William Cases in this tree are confused. (JTC) Also it seems unusual that all of the sons were born when this William was over 50 years old. Could there be another William missing in the chain? (JTC)
The explanation seems to be that the Jakins tree has Joseph b. 1654's children assigned to William and Mary Starkey. The Lyman bible has differing children and birth dates.
Listed as a freeman in Newport, Newport Co., RI 1655
He was deputy 1667, 1673, 1674 and 1675.
William married Mary Starkey between 1638 and 1639 in Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA. Mary (daughter of Emanuel White and Katherine) was born about 1630 in North Kingston, Washington Co., RI; died in 1680 in Newport, Newport Co., RI. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
