The home of Mary Urquhart's childhood was Craigston Castle, formerly called Craigsintray, and is one of the finest [remaining] examples of the old feudal castles of Scotland.
(Research):Though no proof is obtainable, it seems likely that Margaret Fraser, grandmother of Mary Urquhart, was the daughter of James Fraser of Tyrie, who was living in 1685 and died about 1705. Margaret's grandfather would then be Alexander Eraser of Tyrie, whose wife was Christian Abercromby.

William Urquhart of Meldrum was a cautious Jacobite and avoided the disaster at the Battle of Culloden. His cousin, Adam Urquhart was a member of Charles Edward Stuart's court-in-exile in Rome.

are both great grandsons of Patrick Urquhart of Lethenty, later Meldrum ( c1611-c1664) and Margaret Ogilvie. (dau. of James Ogilvie, 1st Earl of Airlie ).
William Urquhart, 21st of Meldrum is the grandson of Adam Urquhart of Meldrum and Mary Gordon (dau. of Lewis Gordon, 3rd Marquess of Huntly),
and son of John Urquhart of Meldrum and Jean Campbell (dau. of Sir Hugh Campbell of Calder ).
Captain John Urquhart is known as the pirate who made enough money to buy back Craigston Castle,
and is the son of Adam's brother, James Urquhart of Knockleith and Margaret Fraser ( dau. of James Fraser of Tyrie ).
