4. | Augustinus Bernardus Dekezel, Sr. was born in 1852 in Watervliet, Belgie, Netherland; Dutch (son of Franciscus Francies De Kezel Dekesel Dekezel and Marie Louise Lampaert); and died. Notes:
# 1); This families primary information is taken from U.S. FederalCensus records of 1910, 1920, and 1930, Social Security, and MilitaryDraft Cards to date. Some of the information before those years,Jozett Marie Blair McCoy (gr. gr. granddaughter) contributed a greatdeal after talking with her parents John and Marilyn DeKezel Blair.Although the information has been sketchy in some areas, the namesprovided have helped the compiler to trace the family through theabove records. There are many newspaper articles in saved boxes thatrequire sorting yet and gleaning information from that was saved onthe families by "Aunt Bessie". Surely, there will be a great deal ofinformation in those articles that will help to fill in many of thegaps in who is who and in the family descendants histories.
# 2): In the 1910 census records by following the births of PeterDeKezel's (Dekesel) children it's possible to ascertain theapproximate dates of the families immigration time table from Hollandto America, and in the same census for August DeKezel the immigrationyear is given as 1905. The Blair Family is under the impression thatall four of the brothers immigrated together. I have also listed anaunt, because on the census records of 1910 it is recorded thatCharles DeKezel is staying with her (Mame) and her husband Peter Rykeof Belgium who immigrated in 1910, and he is listed as a "brother"(probably a mistake). It is possible that the aunt and her husbandfollowed the four brothers to America a few years later. It wouldseem that Charles DeKezel then married soon after the 1910 census wastaken and started a family.
# 3). On Benjamin (Ben) Bernard DeKezel World War I DraftRegistration Card, 1917-1918 Record, he is listed as from Yqendykke,Holland. The two letters after the letter "q" in the place name isdifficult to make out, but this is the best possibility for now untilfurther research into the Holland area can be done. Since all of thebrothers immigrated together to America in and around 1905, I haveplaced them all in the same area of Holland for birth place untilother information should come about. This information is the onlyrecord of their origins that has surfaced so far in the recordsobtained.
