    "JAMES MCMULLEN, James, Joseph, and John McMullen, three brotherscame from England to the Carolinas in 1775. James McMullen, Sr.married Jane Robinson Mar. 14, 1788 and moved to Shelby County,Kentucky following trail of Daniel Boone through the "Old WildernessPass" to where Louisville now stands. It was usual for men to gohunting for food, and on one occasion, a hunting party of which JamesSr., was a member was attacked and killed by Indians. Their only son,James McMullen, Jr. was born shortly after his father was murdered.""In England this family spelled their name MacMullin, but in 1831 itwas changed to McMullen."
