    Peter married Hannah Snellings on 21 Jan 1808 in Elbert County, GA. Hannah was born in Oct 1788 in Elbert County, GA; died in Jan 1839. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  1. 4.  Patrick Butler was born on 1 Mar 1760 in Hanover County, VA (son of Zacharia Butler and Mary Edwards); died in 1838 in Elbert County, GA.

    Notes:

    Patrick Butler served 15 months with Virginia Troops under Captain Brown
    in 1781. He was discharged and sent home after the Battle of Guilford
    Courthouse. He later fought in the Battle of Camden. Patrick was awarded
    a land grant in Wilkes County Georgia; headright for self and four in
    family. (Book B, page 189, Wilkes County Records). He applied for a
    pension on 21 January, 1833, and the last payment was made 1838-1839. He
    and Zacharia are buried beside each other near Fortsonia, Georgia.

    Notes:

    Zacharia Butler was born in Ireland and came to America before the
    Revolutionary War. He lived in Hanover County, Virginia and served as a
    private in Anderson's Company, Nelson's Regiment, Virginia Troops. He was
    awarded a land grant in Wilkes County Georgia after the war (Book B, page
    194, Wilkes County, Georgia). When Wilkes County divided, his property
    became part of Elbert County.
