1. Jones Tillman Douglas was born on 25 Nov 1779 in Mecklenburg, VA (son of David Douglas and Martha Jones); died on 20 Oct 1846 in At His Home. Notes:
His grave in 1855 had been marked by a large granite slab prepared by his son Jones T. Douglass. The lettering now hard to
read from weathering, was helped by the placement of
the new bronze marked on the top of the slab. This
marker identifies his as a Veteran of the War of 1812,
where he served as a saddler in Captain John P. Harvey's
Troop of Light Dragoons, Georgia Militia.
Jones married Rebecca Tillman in 1803 in Hancock County, Georgia. Rebecca (daughter of Matthew Devore Tillman and Elizabeth) was born on 14 Aug 1781 in Edgefield, SC; died on 20 Mar 1864. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
