EAST MOLINE ? Winifred Ellen ?Winnie? Cook, 90, Park Vista, EastMoline, formerly of Rock Island, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at TheLodge on Natchez nursing center, Elko, Minn.
Winifred was born Nov. 5, 1918 in Keithsburg, the daughter of CharlesW. and Mary E. (Doak) Brown. She married Willard E. Cook on Sept. 14,1935 in Keithsburg. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2008.
Cook worked as a nurse?s aid for the former Franciscan Hospital inRock Island, Monmouth Hospital and the Mercer County Hospital inAledo. She was a member of Memorial Christian Church, and was activein the Craft and Unity Circles at the church. Along with her husband,Willard, she had belonged to the Knights of Pythias. Cook enjoyedtraveling, playing cards and bingo, music and caring for others.
She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie (Van) Lincoln, Jordan,Minn.; sons, Donald E. (Wendy) Cook, Lynnhaven, Fla., David C. (Carol)Cook, Monmouth, and Neil A. (Judy) Cook, Spencer, Iowa; 13grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren;sister, Alene Ellis, Florida; brother, Lee Brown, Arizona; andsister-in-law, Betty Brown, Monmouth.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Willard E. Cook, adaughter Marion Waunita, sisters, Eva Galebreath, Lucille Chandler andNorma Brown, and brothers Chester and Bernice Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, atHodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 12 p.m.until time of services on Saturday, at the funeral home.
