  1. 2.  Lt Commander Francis Douglas-Watson, DSO was born on 3rd June 1896 in Bearsden, Glasgow, Scotland (son of Francis Douglas-Watson and Elizabeth Cunningham); died on 7th April 1941 in Piraeus, Greece; was buried in Phaleron War Cemetery, Greece.

    Notes:

    Lt.Cdr. Francis Douglas-Watson commanded the minesweeper HMS Pangbourne (J 37) between 26 Oct 1938 and 17 Sep 1940
    He was awarded the DSO on 25 Oct 1940. He was an Acting Commander at the time.

    Died:
    In April 1941, he was serving at HMS Nile (RN base, Alexandria, Egypt), but on 7th April, he was ashore in the Greek harbour of Piraeus when the British steamer Clan Fraser (7529grt), of convoy ANF .24, was damaged by German bombing and set afire. At 0330hrs on the 7th, the explosion of her TNT cargo sank the steamer and wrecked the harbour, killing Cdr. Douglas-Watson.
