  1. 1.  William Garnier was born in 1772 in Rookesbury, Hampshire (son of George Charles Garnier and Margaret Miller); died on 18 Mar 1835.

    Notes:

    The third son of George Charles
    He was born at Rookesbury in 1772, and was educated at Winchester School, 1785-88.
    He was Scholar of New College, Oxford, 1788-90, and Fellow of New College, 1790-97; Prebendary of Winchester, 1800-31; Rector of Upham and Rector of Droxford, 1801-35; Rector of Bright-
    well, 1 8 14.

    In the year 1824 he pulled down the old house at Rookesbury, and rebuilt it, at a cost of ?40,000, on the site of Pye's Farm. All the materials for rebuilding, viz., bricks, stone, and wood, came off the Estate. His cousin. Lord Albemarle, in the same year, employed the same architect, Mr. Tatham, to re-model Quidenham Hall, on the same plans that were used for the reconstruction of William Garnier's new house at Rookesbury.

    William married Lady Harriet North in 1797. Harriet (daughter of Hon. Brownlow North) was born before 1797; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    1. Lt Brownlow North Garnier, RN was born on 9 Jul 1803; died on 28th June, 1847.

    Notes:

    George married Margaret Miller on 20th May, 1766 in Lavant. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]


  2. 3.  Margaret Miller (daughter of Sir John (4th Bt) Miller, Bt and Susan Combe).

    Notes:

    2nd of the three daughters (all beauties of the day) of Sir
    John Miller, Bart., of Froyle Place, Hants, the other two
    marrying respectively, George, third Earl of Albemarle, and
    Colonel Wilson, who eventually succeeded to the Barony of
    Berners, of Didlington Hall, near Brandon, Norfolk.

    Children:
    1. 1. William Garnier was born in 1772 in Rookesbury, Hampshire; died on 18 Mar 1835.
    2. Rev Thomas Garnier was born on 26 Feb 1776 in Rookesbury, Hampshire; died on 29 Jun 1873 in 4 Dome Alley, The Close, Winchester.

  1. 6.  Sir John (4th Bt) Miller, Bt (son of Thomas (3rd Bt) Miller and Jane Gother); died on 19 Apr 1772.

    Notes:

    of Chichester, co. Sussex

    John married Susan Combe on 31 May 1733 in St. Thomas's, Winchester, England. Susan (daughter of Dr Matthew Combe, MD and Susannah ("Hannah") Oglander) died on 26 Jun 1788. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]


  2. 7.  Susan Combe (daughter of Dr Matthew Combe, MD and Susannah ("Hannah") Oglander); died on 26 Jun 1788.
    Children:
    1. 3. Margaret Miller
    2. Anne Miller was born in 1743; died on 3 Jul 1824.
    3. Sir Thomas (5th Baronet) Miller was born about 1736; died on 4 Sep 1816.


Generation: 4

  1. 12.  Thomas (3rd Bt) Miller was born about 1689 (son of Sir John (2nd Bt) Miller and Margaret Peachy); died in 1733.

    Notes:

    Sir THOMAS MILLER, Bart. eldest son and successor to Sir John, was likewise representative in parliament for Chichester, in the reigns of Queen Anne and King George I. and married , daughter of alderman Gother, of Chichester, by whom he left three sons, 1, Sir John; 2, Thomas, who died unmarried, aged about 21; and 3, Henry: and one daughter Jane, wife of Bye. Sir Thomas died at Lavent, near Chichester, Nov. 1733, and was succeeded in dignity and estate by his eldest son,

    Notes:

    a physician of Winchester

    Matthew married Susannah ("Hannah") Oglander on 3 Dec 1713 in Droxford, Hampshire, England. Susannah (daughter of Sir John (2nd Baronet) Oglander and Mary Webb) was born in 1678; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]


  4. 15.  Susannah ("Hannah") Oglander was born in 1678 (daughter of Sir John (2nd Baronet) Oglander and Mary Webb); and died.
    Children:
    1. 7. Susan Combe died on 26 Jun 1788.
