  1. 8.  Peter Henry Wood was born on 14 Oct 1824 in Cato, Cayuga County, New York (son of David I. Wood and Marie [Vader] Wood); died on 11 Feb 1904 in Faribault Co., Minnesota.

    Notes:

    His ancestors except one great great grandmother, who was English were Holland Dutch. Peter spoke Dutch as a child but when he was old enough to attend school his parents spoke both Dutch and English, and Peter forgot how to speak the Dutch Language as an adult. Peter Moved to Atica, Wyoming County, New York when he was six and lived here until he was twenty. At the age of seventeen Peter joined the Methodist Church. In 1844 they moved to Kanosia, Wisconsin, but one year later moved to Alto, Fondulac County, Wisconsin. It was while Emeline was working for Mrs. Worden, Peter's sister, that she and Peter met for the first time. He was twenty three and working land on shares and boarding with his sister. After their marriage the lived with Margaret far a month, then they moved to the farm Peter was working. In the spring Peter built a shanty on a forty acre lot, which he had bought and they moved into it, here Truman David was born.
    In February 1857 they moved to Marquette Co. Wisconsin, known as Indian Land. Peter's brother David ,18yrs. old, accompanied them.

    Peter married Emeline Anderson [Pratt] Wood on 17 Sep 1848 in Union Prairie, Fond Du Lac Co. Wisconsin. Emeline (daughter of Truman Pratt and Rebecea Warnar Whitney) was born on 24 May 1833 in West Newvineyardtown, Franklin Co., Maine; died on 24 May 1923 in Lakefield, Jackson Co. Minnesota.     In the year 1839, Emeline's parents moved from Maine to Bureau County, Ill. She became an orphan at the age of 14. She made her home with a Methodist minister's family by the name of Lathrop. They soon moved t Fondulac County, Wisconsin. Shortly after their arrival, she went to work for Mrs. Worden, Peter Wood's oldest sister. She joined the Methodist Church when she was fifteen. It was while Emeline was working for Mrs. Worden that she and Peter met for the first time. He was twenty three and working land on shares and boarding with his sister.
