    Notes:

    Doug Hickling suggests:
" I want to suggest that you revise your listing of John (Sir) (of
Ardgowan) Stewart, whose daughter Margaret married Duncan (Sir) Campbelland became the mother of Colin (Sir) (1st of Glenurchy) Campbell. Youcorrectly show that Sir John's father was Robert III (John) Stewart, Kingof Scotland, but the authorities say that John (Sir) was the naturalchild of the king and his mother's identity is unknown.

THE SCOTS PEERAGE volume 1, at 331, refers to John (Sir) Stewart ofArdgowan as a "natural son of King Robert III."

Walter Lee Sheppard, Jr., in his article ROYAL BYE-BLOWSIII--ILLEGITIMATE DESCENDANTS OF THE SCOTTISH KINGS TO JAMES VI, NEHGR,October 1968, at 265, lists both James Stewart of Kilbride and John (Sir)Stewart of Auchingowan and Ardgowan as "known bastards" of King RobertIII.

Alastair Campbell of Airds in his A HISTORY OF CLAN CAMPBELL, VOLUME I,at 121, says that John (Sir) was a "natural son" of King Robert III.Brian Tompsett agrees. He shows only a father for John (Sir) and doesnot include him in the list of children of King Robert III and his spouseAnnabella Drummond. Considering that the fact of his illegitimacy is sowidely recognized, I think it really strange that so
few gedcoms on RootsWeb have picked it up."

Wallaces of Craigie in "Vans Family Archive"

The exact line of the Wallaces of Craigie seems to be open to debate, Ihave used the one outlined in "History of the Counties of Ayr and Wigton"Vol 1, by James Paterson, 1863, (and added some siblings, etc. from Vans)only because that was the one I first encountered, however Jamie Vans ofBarnbarroch gives a different interpretation at his web site "Vans FamilyArchive" at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~vfarch/
"Vans Family Archive" is also very thoroughly researched and I have noway of knowing which is more accurate. He has a link to a list of hissources on the web site which I have added at the bottom of this page. The extent of his references is starting to make me suspect that the Vansversion may be more accurate.

I have added below a much abbreviated version of the line as he shows it.For much more detail on sources, siblings, etc, see that web site. Thatline starts athttp://homepages.rootsweb.com/~vfarch/Genealogy-data/wc15/wc15_319.htm
