    "GRANDMA" BLACKSON DIED FRIDAY MORNING **** Widow of Civil War VeteranHad Long Been A Resident of Goff -----
    At four o'clock last Friday morning, death came as a relief to theearthly suffering of Mrs. Barbara Blackson at her home in Goff.
    Although nearly a score of years past the allotted three score andten, Mrs. Blackson had remained in her own home until the last. Formany years neighbors and old friends have assisted members of herfamily in ministering to her wants, and for several months she hadbeen bedfast. In her final illness she had the tender care of Mrs.Ida Hawley, Miss Theda Richard and son, Lewis Blackson. GrandmaLockhart also assisted in her care through the winter.
    Barbara A. Smallwood was born near Stockport, Ohio, December 21, 1848,and died May 14, 1937, at the age of 88 years, 4 months, 23 days. Shewas untied in marriage to Green H. Blackson, a soldier of the CivilWar, May 24, 1863, at Zanesville, Ohio. Eight children were born tothem: John F. Blackson of Parcoal, West Virginia; Charles H. ofMoxahaley, Ohio; Lewis H. of the home. Ada E., William F., Maggie D.,and Albert C. Proceeded her in death. The husband passed away at thehome in Goff on July 7, 1918.
    From Bristol, Ohio they moved to Sabetha, Kansas, about fifty-fiveyears ago, then to Centralia, remaining there but a short time, whenthey moved to the farm northeast of Goff, known now as the M.T. Smithfarm, later moving to Goff over 25 years ago.
    "Grandma" Blackson, as she was familiarly known to all old residents,had many fiends in this community, who sorrow at her passing. She wasa member of the Christian Church and faithful to her church in heractive years.
    Besides the three sons, she is also survived by the followinggrandchildren, Maude Herron, Violet and Stella Watson, Columbus, Ohio;Barbara Blackson of Goff, also several great grandchildren, a numberof nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
    Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Goff Sundayafternoon. Rev. Chas. A. Richard of Seneca, an old friend, gave thesermon. A mixed quartet, Mrs. L.J. Stark, Miss Audrey Heald, DonaldCordon and Harvard Goodrich, with Mrs. F.O. Brown, pianist, sangseveral hymns. Pallbearers were John McManis, Willis Morrell, M.T.Jones, G.H. Jepson, J.L. Shumaker, A.H. Fitzwater. The Goff FuneralHome were in charge of all the arrangements. Interment was beside thehusband in Fairview."
