  1. 2.  Daniel McDonald was born in 1723 in Inverness, Scotland (son of Donald McDonald and Mary ???); died in 1797 in Fredericksburg Township, South Carolina.

    Notes:

    Some historians claim the name McDaniel and McDonald were
    interchangeable. The documents relating to this Daniel McDonald indicate
    this was true. In some instances, Daniel McDonald signs legibly as
    "McDonald" and again as "McDaniel". He signed his will as "McDaniel", but
    refers in it to his eldest son as "McDonald". His will is in the
    Charleston County Will Book dated 24 September, 1777.

    "Katherine Fisher m. Thomas Steel and the Steels came to South Carolina
    about 1745. Their first neighbor was Daniel McDonald, a Scotchman, who
    had lived some fifteen or twenty years in his present home among the
    indians in entire seclusion from any of the white race. McDonald was the
    first pioneer into that district of the country. He amassed considerable
    wealth and reared a large family of sons and daughters."

    Rosa Moore McMaster joined DAR on the basis of descent from Daniel
    McDonald (DAR #202312),

    Indent No. AA 5000, issued 29 August, 1785 to Daniel McDaniel for L6:10:0
    in payment of 91 days militia duty as a private in 1781. There is no
    actual document in this file, but there is in the entry the claim of
    Daniel McDaniel sworn to on 15 July 1784 before Thomas Baker, Justice of
    the Peace. The soldier's statement is attested by Colonel H. Hunter and
    dated 21 July 1784. (S.C. Archives: Rev War Indent Records).

    Daniel McDonald died in what is now Lancaster County, South Carolina.
    Lancaster County was created in 1785, and included what is now Kershaw
    County. Frefericksburg Township, where McDonald died, was in the part of
    Lancaster County which became Kershaw County and part of Cleremont, which
    was combined with Clarendon County in 1800 to form Sumter County.

    Daniel married Rebecca Middleton in 1745 in Probably Scotland. Rebecca was born in 1724; died in 1768. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    4. Sarah McDonald was born on 7 Oct 1751 in Lancaster District, South Carolina; died in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.
    5. Eleanor McDonald was born on 1 Feb 1758 in Lancaster District, South Carolina; and died.
    6. Hester McDonald was born on 1 Feb 1758 in Lancaster District, South Carolina; died in May 1818 in Fairfield County, South Carolina.
