Mary Augusta Faulkner was a sister of James Faulkner, my wife's
great-grandfather. The line to my wife was: James Faulkner 1827-93 &
Margaret Ann McAuley 1830-1907, Elizabeth Keith Faulkner 1866-1957 &
Willard Clinton Warren 1866-1928, Margaret Moore Warren 1897-1985 &
Gorham Lamont Cross 1896-1956, Margaret Ann Cross 1921, who married me,Robert William Bean 1917.

I don't know when Mary Augusta Faulkner was born. Her husband, John
Meiggs, according to one source, was born 1827 July 27. My present
guess is that Mary Augusta Faulkner was born about 1839. Her youngest
child was born, according to the same source, 1882 in London.

Helen Cornell Meiggs, born 1868, was called "Nina" because very young
(the "Ni?a") when taken from New York to Peru, where her father and his
brother Henry were building railways.

Dateswere available from family sources for two of the siblings, but not forMary Augusta Faulkner.

I have found on the Latter-Day Saints Family Search website a submissionby Donna M. Stokes Peterson of Stockton CA that identifies and givesdates for Mary Augusta Faulkner's nine children (the correct number,according to my wife's grandmother). ... this list has considerabledetail, no obvious internal inconsistencies, and appears to have beencarefully compiled. The information it offers conforms with thefragmentary information we have from family and published sources...

With that caveat, I will pass on Mrs. Peterson's liSt My guess is thatit's likely to be correct. My comments are in brackets."

[John G. Meiggs' father was Elisha Meiggs. Henry was John's olderbrother, b.1811. In
1860 Henry was contractor for building railways in Chile.]

[Mary Augusta's sister, Maria Faulkner, married William Henry Herrick in1843.]

[In January 1871 Mary Augusta was with her husband in Lima, where theirfirst child had died three months earlier.]

[In August 1875 the Peruvian Government suspended indefintely all railwayconstruction for want of external financing. In December 1875 John G.Meiggs, who
supervised all of Henry Meigg's projects in Peru, left Lima and returnedto NY. I don't know how soon the family moved to London, where Johnprobably was engaged in trying to arrange additional financing for therailways. Henry remained in Peru and died there 1877 Sep 30. In 1897(?)Norah Meiggs married Herbert Allfrey in London.]
