"...the woman you have identified as "Catherine Romanovitch" (see below)is in fact Catherine Simonovna Woronzow (variously spelled in English).The "Romanovitch" comes from her father's patronymic, his middle name,formed from that of his father. He is, then, Count Simon RomanovitchWoronzow (his father's given name was Roman; the family name is Woronzow,now generally transliterated as Vorontsov).
Catherine's father was the Russian ambassador to Great Britain; herbrother, Count (later Prince) Michael Simonovitch Vorontsov, was awell-known figure of Russian history.
She married George Herbert in an Orthodox church in London in 1808 anddied
in 1856. Sidney, Lord Herbert of Lea, (d. 1861) was their son."

Catherine married George Augustus (11th Earl of Pembroke) Herbert on 25 Jan 1808. George (son of Henry (10th Earl of Pembroke) Herbert and Elizabeth Spencer) was born on 10 Sep 1759; died on 26 Oct 1827 in Pembroke House, Privy Gardens, Whitehall; was buried in Wilton. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
