  1. 8.  Nathaniel Douglas was born on 11 Aug 1754 in Canaan, CT (son of Asa Douglas and Rebecca Wheeler); died on 5 Oct 1821 in Douglasville, Quebec, Canada.

    Notes:

    They were farmers, passing part of their lives in Connecticut and part in New York. In 1790 he went to Chazy, N. Y., and settled, with his brother, Capt. John, on land granted to their father, Major Asa, for services in the Revolutionary war.

    Douglas was married to his first wife, Prudence, until she died 1812 Mr. Douglas removed to Douglasville, Que., which his sons, Nathaniel, James and Jonathan, settled. After his removal to Canada he married, as his second wife, a Miss TRAVAISSA, whose father came from France with LaFayette. By her he had five or six children, but no account of them or their descendants has been obtained. Nathaniel DOUGLAS died at Douglasville, Oct. 5, 1821.

    (Research):Nathaniel Douglass et Charlotte Traversy NATHANIEL DOUGLAS, s/o Asa, born in Canaan, Conn., Aug 11, 1754. He married, in 1772, his cousin Prudence, daughter of Judge (James?) and Mrs. Hannah (DOUGLAS) BROWN, of Pittstown, NY. They were farmers, assign part of their lives in Connecticut and part in New York. In 1790 he went to Chazy, NY and settled, with his brother, Capt. John, on land granted their father, Major Asa, for services in the Revolutionary war. Mrs. DOUGLAS died April 17, 1796, aged 45 years. In 1812 Mr. DOUGLAS removed to Douglasville, Que. [Canada], which his sons, Nathaniel, James and Jonathan, settled.

    After his removal to Canada he married, as his second wife a Miss. TRAVAISSA [Marie-Charlotte TRAVERSY b. 1763 in Saint-Francois-du-Lac, Quebec], whose father came from France with LaFAYETTE. By her he had five or six children, but no account of them or their descendants has been obtained. Nathaniel DOUGLAS died at Douglasville, Oct. 5, 1821.
