  1. 2.  Andrew Clephane was born in 1780 (son of George (of Carslogie) Clephane and Anne Jean Douglas); died on 25 Aug 1838; was buried in St John and St Cuthbert?s Church Cemetery, Edinburgh, Scotland.

    Notes:

    Advocate
    Andrew Clephane was the sixth and youngest son of George Clephane, of Carslogie. Educated at Edinburgh University, he distinguished himself by passing all the examinations with credit. Admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1801, he was appointed Advocate Depute in 1813, Sheriff of Peebles 1816 19, and of Fife in 1819, in room of John Anstruther of Airth deceased, a post he held until his own death in 1838. He was also connected with the management of the Fife and Newhaven ferries. He married, 18 August 1817, Anna Maria, second daughter of Lt. Col. Robert Douglas of the 58th of Foot, and left a son, Lieutenant Colonel Clephane of the 79th Highlanders.

    Andrew married Anna Maria Douglas on 8 Aug 1817 in Strathenry, Scotland. Anna (daughter of Lieut Col the Hon Robert Douglas) died in 1844; was buried in St John and St Cuthbert?s Church Cemetery, Edinburgh, Scotland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    He was apparently dead before his daughter, Anna Maria's wedding, so the date that I have of 17 Aug 1834 would appear to be wrong.

    a prominent landowner in Fife.
    Apparently father of John

    Robert Douglas MP, who became of Strathendry by his marriage in 1676 with Helen Forrester of Strathendry (sasine 1676, 1686), the widow of Sir Alexander Martine who was dead by 1672. There was no issue of this marriage and Robert Douglas married in 1688 secondly Susan Balfour

    Robert married Susan Balfour about 1690. Susan (daughter of John (3rd Lord of Burleigh) Balfour and Isabel Balfour) was born about 1670; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
