  1. 1.  Maj David George Ian Alexander (4th Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair) Gordon was born on 21 Jan 1908 (son of Lt Col Dudley Gladstone (3rd Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair) Gordon and C?cile Elizabeth Drummond); died on 13 Sep 1974.

    Notes:

    He was a director of Northern Area Clydesdale Bank in 1968.

    They adopted four children who were, until 2004, not entitled either to have courtesy titles or for the elder son to inherit the peerage[1]:
    Mary Katherine Gordon (b. 30 May 1946), married Simon Piers Welfare and had issue.
    Sarah Caroline Gordon (b. 25 March 1948), married P.Scott and had issue; then remarried Eric N Money with one son.
    Andrew David Gordon (b. 6 March 1950), married Lucy Mary Frances Milligan and had issue.
    James Drummond Gordon (b. 11 April 1953), married Marilyn Sim.
    Until 2004 adopted children of peers had no right to any courtesy title. However as a result of a Royal Warrant dated 30 April 2004 adopted children are now automatically entitled to such styles and courtesy titles as their siblings. However, as with illegitimate children where legitimated, such children have no rights to inheritance of peerages. [Note - Scottish peerages rules of descent differ.]

    David married Beatrice Mary June Boissier on 29 Apr 1939. Beatrice (daughter of (Arthur) Paul Boissier and Hannah Kathleen Hill) was born on 29 Dec 1913; died on 22 Jun 2009. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Styled Lord Dudley Gordon from 1916 to 1965, was a British peer, soldier, and industrialist.

    Notes:

    Known as The Earl of Aberdeen from 1870 to 1916, was a Scottish politician. Born in Edinburgh, Hamilton-Gordon held office in several countries, serving twice as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (1886; 1905? 1915) and serving from 1893 to 1898 as the seventh Governor General of Canada.

    styled Lord Haddo before 1860, was a British peer and Liberal Party politician.

    Lord Haddo was born at Bentley Priory in Hertfordshire, the eldest son of the 4th Earl of Aberdeen and was educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge.[1] On 5 November 1840, he married Mary Baillie (a sister of the future 10th Earl of Haddington) at Taymouth Castle and they had six children: George (1841? 1870), James Henry (1845? 1868, killed in a rifle accident), John Campbell (1847? 1934), Mary (1844? 1914, married the 8th Lord Polwarth), Harriet (1849? 1942, married William Lindsay) and Katherine Eliza (1852? 1931, married the 6th Lord Balfour of Burleigh).

    He was a Scottish businessman and a Liberal politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1853 until 1880, when he was elevated to the peerage as Baron Tweedmouth. He was also a noted dog breeder and created the golden retriever breed.
