• Notes

(Research): In the 1841 census, Sarah Dorothy is living with her husband, Thomas 'Barn' – or 'Burn' – Hopgood, in Ealing, both on 'independent' means. Thomas, as plaintiff in an Old Bailey case of 1809, is described as a 'perfumer and jeweller' with his own hallmark for silver. His eldest son, Metcalf, subsequently continued the business.
