• Notes

The History of the Sensintaffar Family, by Emma Sensintaffar Baker, contains this sketch of Edley Campbell Maxwell: "Edley C. Maxwell was born in Va. Oct. 29, 1836. He came to Mo. with his parents - William M. Maxwell and Elizabeth Sensintaffar-Maxwell in 1837. He was raised on the maxwell farm 1-1/2 miles east of Laclede, Linn Co., Mo. and 1-1/2 miles north of the farm of his grandfather - Jacob Sensintaffar I. "Edley C. Maxwell and Rebecca parks were married Oct. 10, 1859. They lived in Linn Co., Mo. until 1868 when they moved to Texas. "They did not like Texas so came back to Mo. the following year and settled on a farm near Hume, Bates Co., Mo. They raised their family there and lived there many years. "As long as his parents lived they visited back and forth. In 1889 Edley, Becky and their daughter Frances made a visit to Linn Co., Mo. He also went back there in 1893 when his mother died. "Afterward they seemed to have lost all contact with his relatives in Linn Co. and Texas. None of his people there know what became of him and of his family."
