From Stirnet Genealogy at http://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/british/aa/atholl1.htm "Maldred of Atterdale, 'King of Cumbria' (d 1045) m. Edith/Aeldgyth (dau of Uchtred, 5th lord of Bamburgh, Earl ofBernicia, Earl of Northumbria) a. Gospatrick, Earl of Northumberland, 1st Earl of Dunbar (b c1040, a1072) .. b. Maldred of Winlaton (a 1084) (1) Uchtred FitzMaldred (a 1116) In its ancestry of George Washington, President of the USA, 'RoyalData'shows this Uchtred as father of Dolfin FitzUchtred, Lord of Raby for whomwe show a different parentage in 'Swinton01'. " See also Dolfin lord of Raby "Dolfin, lord of Raby (a 1131) 'RoyalData' suggests an alternative descent for Dofin FitzUchtred, lordof Raby, which we show under 'Atholl1'. This disagreement between thevarious sources is thought to arise because of difficulty indistinguishing between the various Maldreds, Uchtreds and Cospatricks whowere powerful in the north of England around this period, some of whomwere related to each other by blood and others by marriage.
