"Sir William Ramsay of Dalhousie defeated the English at Nisbet Moor in1355, and in 1400 his successor Sir Alexander Ramsay withstood a sixmonth siege at Dalhousie organised by King Henry IV. This was to be thelast time a Scottish Castle was besieged by an English King in person.Sir Alexander was killed two years later at Homildon Hill, a battle whichis mentioned in Shakespeare’s Henry IV (part 1). His great-grandson, alsoAlexander, was slain at Flodden in 1513. " From Dalhousie Castle History - www.dalhousiecastle.co.uk/dhc2.htm
