• Notes

  There is a conflict in my notes from Beverly Branning. One report from the WFT gives Aaron's wife as Zipporah Button b. abt. 1759. --------------------------------------------- Aaron and his brother Moses of Fairfield Co., CT had settled about 1657 at Cushetunk, now Milanville, on the PA bank of the Delaware River. This was a daring move as it was made during the hostilities of the French and Indian War. They built a small fort at Milanville and engaged in farming. Moses lived in the fort, while Aaron settled about one half mi. north. In 1763 Delaware Indians attacked the fort, killing Moses and Jedediah Willis. Aaron Thomas had moved his family to safety before the attack but returned after the war ended. Aaron continued to live near Milanville until his death between 1800 and 1810. He is alleged to have been buried in the Overlook Cemetery at Damascus. (Popielarz). ----------------------------------------------
