  According to "Descendants of John Casse": "Aaron Cass, one of the Dryden Company soldiers in the War of 1812, was struck on the head by a British cannon ball and instantly killed while crossing the Niagara River at Queenston. Cass had been a distinguished soldier of the Revolution from Connecticut." He was serving in place of his son Josiah, who was on leave at the time. He served in the military during war time 3 Jun 1778 in Litchfield, CT.(739) Aaron was a private from Connecticut in the American Revolution and the War of 1812, in which he was killed. The Revolutionary War record of Aaron Cass shows that he was a private in Capt. David Olmsted's Company, having arrived in camp on 3 June 1778. He was discharged in September 1778 in Col. Enos' Regiment on the Hudson River. He is listed in "Connecticut Men in the Revolution" on page 537, and on the Honor Roll of Litchfield County, CT, Revolutionary Soldiers.
