  Elva loved caring for others as she worked as a nurse for McLeod Regional Medical Center and later for Greenland Park retiring after 21 years of dedicated service, after her retirement she went back to work for another 2 years. She was a lifelong member of Swift Creek Baptist Church where she was in the Helen Lee Sunday School Class, served in many different capacities, and helped with the mission group "Girls in Action." Mrs. Elva was also instrumental in helping with getting Vacation Bible School started at Swift Creek sister church, Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
